Unique Mixed Media Abstracts
Art is a release for Jennifer Berry. “I honestly don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t paint. I’m very grateful that my work has found an audience, not only here in New Mexico, but in galleries and homes across the country, and the world.
She is a graduate in Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University, where, as a student her work was featured in American Art. She spent 10 hectic years as a graphic artist and designer before saying good-bye to the corporate world of advertising. In 1997 she began her pursuit as a full-time artist via art exhibitions, fairs, and galleries. She also learned what it’s like to live out of her van when times got tough. “Being homeless, with two hungry golden retrievers and selling my work at craft shows was a struggle. The dogs were hungry and so was I.”
In 2005, Nieman~Marcus purchased seven of her larger canvas’s that are now on display in their corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas. That same year a painting of hers was featured in the home section of Architectural Digest. That was the end of living out of her van.
“My work is primarily mixed-media on canvas, and let me tell you it is work creating these images: sometimes I go back days and weeks later working new elements into the images to get them just right. I love the work and hope it shows through in every piece I create. It’s fun, and very fulfilling.”
Jenny makes her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, along with her (well fed) golden retrievers Henry and Lucy.
