Welcome to the Blackbird Gallery

Mariachi Band at Blackbird Gallery, Old Town, Albuquerque The Blackbird Gallery represents lively contemporary New Mexican art at its finest and most creative. We look forward to showing our customers and collectors the very best new original art, pottery, jewelry and sculpture from the American southwest. The gallery features the bold and colorful native modernist work of Blackfeet artist Farrell Cockrum; southwest landscape abstracts from Bill Barbeau; the urban and edgy mixed-media paintings from Jennifer Berry; stunning flora and fauna palette knife work from Colorado artist Kathy Steventon and Navajo Artist Fred Cleveland’s unique paintings featuring that great quality of light we see only in the desert southwest.

Each represented artist focuses their unique vision on the emphasis of color; the use of brush strokes and light to create texture, emotion and drama. Visit their work on these pages and in person in our beautiful gallery in historic Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Original stoneware pinch-pot fountain creations are featured here at the Blackbird Gallery by California artist Michael Cramer and Tijeras’s Kathy Shiplet, as is our extensive line of Baltic amber jewelry. We also feature unique jewelry creations from local artist Jan Duncan in addition to imported pieces from both India and Africa. So…not necessarily the typical southwestern fare can be found here. “Fire on Tehachapi Pass” is new from Truchas, NM, artist Trish Booth. Trish’s work has been featured in Western Art Collector magazine as well as Southwestern Art in 2009. Original is acrylic on canvas, 18”x48”x2”, and priced at $1500. Giclee’ prints are also available in a limited edition.

A Gathering of Warriors - Farrell Cockrum New from artist Farrell Cockrum is the dramatic "A Gathering of Warriors". This colorful original work is acrylic on canvas, 20"x20" and priced at $735. Farrell's work was recently features in the 2010 HGTV Dream Home in Sandia Park, New Mexico, as well as in the February issue of Country Living Magazine.

We have been amazed by the response and interest by the viewers of HGTV and the Dream Home 2010 to the original acrylic painting “Yellow Tail Vision” by Blackfeet artist Farrell Cockrum. Our gallery has received so my many calls and requests for details and prices on the giclee’ prints, that we are now posting that information here on our home page to all those interested in purchasing their own (very) limited edition print. Each print is custom ordered and hand-signed and numbered by the artist. Each is an Artist Proof (AP). It is available on either stretched canvas or archival paper.
