Welcome to the Blackbird Gallery

Mariachi Band at Blackbird Gallery, Old Town, AlbuquerqueThe Blackbird Gallery represents lively contemporary New Mexican art at its finest and most creative.  We look forward to showing our customers and collectors the very best new original art, pottery, jewelry and sculpture from the American southwest.  The gallery features the bold and colorful native modernist work of Blackfeet artist Farrell Cockrum; charming and colorful portraits of man's best friend by Lynn Culp; the urban and edgy mixed-media paintings from Jennifer Berry; stunning flora and fauna palette knife work from Colorado artist Kathy Steventon and Navajo Artist Fred Cleveland’s unique paintings featuring that great quality of light we see only in the desert southwest.

Each represented artist focuses their unique vision on the emphasis of color; the use of brush strokes and light to create texture, emotion and drama.  Visit their work on these pages and in person in our beautiful gallery in historic Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Original stoneware pinch-pot fountain creations are featured here at the Blackbird Gallery by California artist Michael Cramer and Tijeras’s Kathy Shiplet, as is our extensive line of Baltic amber jewelry.  We also feature unique jewelry creations from local artist Jan Duncan in addition to imported pieces from both India and Africa.  So…not necessarily the typical southwestern fare can be found here.  Come in and explore!

Blackbird Artist Cockrum Featured in HGTV Dream Home

'Yellow Tail Vision by Farrell Cockrum

A featured artist in our gallery for more than two years now, Farrell Cockrum's recent painting "Yellow Tail Vision" was selected last fall as a primary artwork to be featured in the 2010 HGTV Dream Home build here in New Mexico (in Sandia Park, about 60 miles east and north of Albuquerque between the city and the state capital Santa Fe to our north). The home was recently given away by the cable network to a lucky viewer from New Orleans, LA. Congratulations!

The good news from Farrell Cockrum and our gallery is that limited edition giclee' prints are still available of "Yellow Tail Vision". Prints on either archival paper or gallery wrapped canvas in sizes from 12"x12" up to 42"x42" are available by special order, at very attractive prices. Please call the gallery directly at 505-243-9525 for complete pricing information. These are highly limited in number, all being Artist Proofs (AP) that are personally proofed and handsigned by the artist.  We expect the AP edition to be sold-out by early summer.
